I remember being younger and dragging out kitchen table and chairs outside, pulling out the Christmas fairy lights and cooking up a storm for my Nan, Dad and I to have dinner. We had our little party under the fairy lights with the quiet hum of my small town in the background, I was pretty much in my element. You could say since then I’ve always loved entertaining, I love dinner parties and enjoy nothing more than putting on a meal to bring my family and friends together.
With the sun shining on our recently mowed back yard (we can finally see the fence again) I wanted to throw a little impromptu dinner party to welcome in my favourite time of year. Plus, we’ve recently acquired a large amount of decorations that have slowly taken over our garage from our engagement and wedding celebrations, it made sense to make the most of them. An impromptu dinner party needs a solid menu but also one that’s easy to make, I love cooking but slaving away for days isn’t my thing.
I was going for an Italian themed dinner, I love pasta, wine and dessert of course my guests would love that too. I’ve been to a few dinners were slow cooked ragù was a hit, I tried my hand at a recipe online for slow cooked beef ragù, let’s just say there was no leftovers! I threw together my best attempt at a tiramisu, a dessert I’ve always loved but never made, it was easier than I thought and omitting the liquor meant it cut any bitterness/fun out. We finished the night off with a special dessert of Gin and Tonic Jelly made by the ultimate Gin loving blogger Finding Femme, it tasted like pure heaven but of course anything with Gin does!
There’s something so lovely about sipping Pimms underneath sparkling festoon lights that makes you wish those sun filled evenings never end. If you loved the look of my dinner setup you can shop the look below for my favourite Spring and Summer table looks.
